Project #2
EASY THAI BASIL SPAGHETTI RECIPE
One of my favorite dishes is Thai basil spaghetti, which combines Italian pasta with Thai flavors. I enjoy both Thai and Italian cuisine, thus I frequently combine the two in my dishes. Both have distinct, savory flavors that are a perfect match. I'm someone who enjoys food. I appreciate cooking as much as I like to eat. It's a struggle for me to come up with fresh dishes that will please both myself and my family when I'm in the kitchen.
INGREDIENTS
- 7 oz rice noodles (200 g), dry
- 8 fresh or frozen prawns (thawed)
- 3 tbsp onion chopped
- 1 small garlic clove chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh ginger grated
- 1 tbsp brown sugar or palm sugar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp hot chili sauce
- 3 tsp lemon juice or lime juice
- a handful fresh Thai basil
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
METHOD
• Cook the pasta according to the package directions. About 1-2 minutes before the time on the box, remove from the heat. Drain the water and set it aside.
• In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium to high heat. When the oil is hot, add the garlic and chilli and whisk to fragrantize the oil.
• Cook the shrimp in the skillet until it is done. Then immediately mix in the carrot, red bell pepper, and onion.
• In a skillet, whisk together the lime leaves, fingerroot, fresh peppercorn, and basil.
• Toss in the pasta along with the vegetables and shrimp to cook. Then season the meal with all of the ingredients. Continue to stir.
• Taste the noodle and season with salt and pepper if necessary.
